Every year, the consequences of trauma cause costs amounting to 11 billion euros. COPMI have not been explicitly included in these calculations. Yet there is a great deal of potential here.

First of all: this article is not about acute crises – these are a matter in themselves. There are regulations for acute treatment, but even then you can’t avoid looking for a therapist. From time to time I am asked how to find a therapist or what can help a child of mentally ill parents.

I find myself in complex PTSD and read that there is also physical remembering of trauma. So I tried to dissolve my association of “bed is terror”.

At the DGPPN (German Association for Psychiatry, Psychotherapy and Psychosomatics) in 2019, I took part in a symposium entitled “Antistigma – children of mentally ill parents”. To say it straight away: I didn’t take away much enlightening information from the speakers. But it did lead to a brief exchange with one of the speakers afterwards,
